چکیده

Abstract Introduction Incisional Hernia has an incidence ranging from 2–20%. Large and complex incisional hernias are difficult to treat with standard procedures. PCS-TAR is a relatively novel procedure. There persists gap in knowledge regarding its outcomes, especially the Indian population. Aims & Objective To identify pre-operative clinical radiological factors that predict risk of re-herniation wound mesh-related complications after CVH (Complex Ventral Hernia) Methodology In prospective observational study, patients undergoing open retro rectus mesh for Complex repair included study. The patient demographics, hernia characteristics, details, operative data, post- follow-up data were entered pre-designed proforma. Data analyzed SPSS softwere. Results 35 included, which 30 (85%) women 5 men. mean age was 51.8 years BMI 29.7 kg/m2. size defect 12 cm. 83% midline primary 255 recurrent hernias. We observed zero recurrences at six months follow-up, but high morbidity rate up 49%, most common seroma formation. 23% developed SSI. Conclusion conclusion, promising procedure ventral not amenable closure using traditional approach, excellent short term outcomes. Wound significant concern this procedure, can be prevented or reduced by thorough optimization on case-to-case basis.

Open ventral hernia repair with component separation.

In this article, the authors describe their current operative technique for open ventral hernia repair using component separation. Although methods of anterior component separation are described, in their current practice, the authors primarily use posterior component separation with transversus abdominis release to permit dissection beyond the retrorectus space. This method adheres to the lite...

Complex Ventral Hernia Repair Using Components Separation With or Without Biologic Mesh:

To the Editor: We commend Dr Chatterjee and colleagues for advancing the discussion beyond short-term comparisons of acquisition cost or profit and loss assessments, common in a number of recent papers assessing financial implications of using biologic acellular dermal matrices for surgical repair in complex ventral hernias. The authors have raised the bar to a broader ‘‘value for money’’ frame...

Outcomes in Complex Ventral Hernia Repair with Component Separation and Concomitant Panniculectomy

Background: Patients undergoing ventral hernia repair (VHR) with separation of components (SOC) often require or request concurrent panniculectomy. However, the impact of panniculectomy on outcomes is incompletely understood. We aim to compare hernia recurrence and complications in VHR with SOC utilizing a vertical incision (VI) versus panniculectomy (P). Methods: A retrospective review of patie...

Comparative efficacy of Prolene and Prolene-Vicryl composite mesh for experimental ventral hernia repair in dogs

In this study, efficacy of two hernia mesh implants viz. conventional Prolene and a novel Prolene-Vicryl composite mesh was assessed for experimental ventral hernia repair in dogs. Twelve healthy mongrel dogs were selected and randomly divided into three groups, A, Band C (n=4). In all groups, an experimental laparotomy was performed; thereafter, the posterior rectus sheath and peritoneum were ...

Robotic Ventral Hernia Repair and Endoscopic Component Separation: Outcomes

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Robot-assisted hernia repair, combined with endoscopic component separation, has reduced recurrence and complication rates and allowed immediate intervention in obese patients. We sought to study surgical outcomes in this high-risk group of patients in a community hospital. METHODS We conducted a retrospective chart review of ventral, incisional, and umbilical hernia...
